One great example of this recently comes from Kansas City, in which a car dealership who made the switch to green practices, including LED lighting, is going to save on their bottom line for the next decade. While many of the new procedures have helped, LED lighting had the single biggest impact.
"The biggest savings will come from the switch to LED lights, which are expected to shave 40 to 45 percent off the store's monthly electric bills. However, because of the high cost of the LEDs, he says the lights won't pay for themselves right away."
According to the US Department of Energy, LED bulbs can last between 25,000 and 35,000 hours, nearly 35x that of a normal bulb. That means less maintenance, and more efficient lighting.
